Cooper Industries - Social Media Planning

Case Study

The Question:

How does a global B2B organisation with multiple business units and divisions roll out social media activity and ensure every channel reflects the overall brand strategy and guidelines?

The Answer:

A consultancy service was recommended,  aimed at finding the business strengths and weaknesses online and guidance as to how to improve including a social media audit that identifies what channels are being used, by which business units and divisions.

Monitor the social media landscape to discover where the Cooper brand is being mentioned and in what context, to ascertain the best channels for the brand.

A focus on YouTube was deemed the simplest way for each business unit and division to get involved in social media. Simple design templates were created as well as a fully comprehensive ‘how-to’ document, enabling the business to set up channels that were on-brand in an easy way.

The Result:

Following a social media audit, the team were able to better benchmark and set realistic KPI's. A series of documents and templates were created, which enabled staff to be able to easily learn how to create a Cooper branded YouTube channel -  taking the pressure of the digital communications team, and putting ownership with the divisions and business units, after all they are the ones that know their industry best.
